  1. Compliance with minimum requirements does not guarantee a place - limited places approved by Department of Higher Education
  2. Provisional admission based on final Grade 11 results (for current matric) or final Grade 12 results (for completed matric)
  3. Final admission based on final Grade 12 results
  4. Only investigate bursaries after applying and obtaining your student number

Special Applicant Categories

Applicants with the following qualifications will be referred to faculties for faculty-specific selection:

  • ACE School of Tomorrow
  • NCV, NASCA, SC(a)
  • N3/N4/N5/N6 results
  • Any other final school-leaving certificates not aforementioned

Note: PsyCaD evaluation and NBT results may be required for these categories.

What is the Orange Carpet programme?

A UJ initiative to reward top achievers with early conditional admission and special benefits. Requirements: APS of 37+ with Level 6 or higher in all subjects (excluding LO) and 70%+ in relevant subjects for your chosen programme.

How is APS calculated?

APS = Sum of achievement ratings of six best subjects (excluding Life Orientation). Use the conversion table: 80-100% = 7 points, 70-79% = 6 points, 60-69% = 5 points, etc.

What are the UJ campuses?

How do I check my application status?

After applying, you can check your status on the UJ website using your ID or student number. For paper applications, allow 3 weeks before checking status.

What is the residence deposit?

R1,220 residence deposit automatically charged to student's account upon online registration. Academic admission does NOT guarantee residence admission.

What are Day Houses?
